Power amplifier upgrades/modifications...

In addition to new kit for early 2011 (high end valve compressor / analogue mastering equalizer) spare time permitting there will be an upgrade to power amplification.

The stock UK hand built MOSFET power amplifier I have in reserve (which already sounds very good)  is going to undergo surgery to bring it up to mastering status.

Modifications will include input opamp buffer upgrade to an audiophile grade chip replacing the existing 5532 chip. Electrolytic capacitor replacement using high quality Panasonic FM Low ESR varieties and replacement of existing ceramic capacitors to NP0/COG high stability varieties.

This amplifier will be powering the PMC IB1's with 250Watts RMS per channel, the already excellent audio specifications of the amplifier should be improved upon, increasing resolution.

2011 at SafeandSound Mastering...

After a busy back end to 2010, January looks set to start well at SafeandSound Mastering with a number of albums in the diary. In addition I have now decided on 2 new pieces of high end analogue mastering kit with a third in the planning stage for mid year.

Initially a valve compressor of ultimate quality (USA built) will be being delivered by mid January, this will be a useful addition to the options already available. Secondly a  new UK built stereo analogue mastering equalizer is due to be delivered mid February.
